Introducing Fluid Gems!

Inspiration for R&D comes from all sorts of things that we see and hear. Our CEO Yoshi was watching a video captured by a high-speed camera that showed cubes of colored jelly (think Jell-O) moving around in slow motion. He was fascinated by the movement of the gelatin cubes and the light passing through them, which made him wonder if it was possible to use the rendering technology that he designed to make Rigid Gems in order to make gelatinous objects like jello cubes in CG form.

He also wanted to make the tool interactive by allowing you to move the objects and have them reflect light in real time, so he used real-time ray tracing technology. Utilizing his ingenuity and experience from creating Rigid Gems, it wasn’t too long before he came up with the first version of what we’re calling Fluid Gems.

Here’s the video of the first version.

We’re still making improvements, so stay tuned and let us know what you think it can be used for!
